Donna Letizia, a Sicilian noblewoman, lived in the 19th century in her home surrounded by lush olive groves. Elegant, refined, and cultured, she nurtured a profound love for olive trees, knowing their nuances, varieties, and properties. For her, the olive groves were a priceless treasure. In summer, when the sirocco wind dulled her senses, she loved to stroll alone among the centuries-old trees, illuminated by the moonlight and accompanied by the incessant chirping of cicadas.
From those walks, Donna Letizia always drew inexhaustible strength. Like the roots of her olive trees, her family roots also ran deep into that land, a land that had been passed down from her grandfather to her father, and finally to her. She had to prove herself worthy of a task that usually fell to men. She always succeeded admirably.
Often, during his days, he spent his time conversing pleasantly with the farmers, predicting the year and the production.
He knew every species of olive tree but the biancolilla was her favourite. During the olive harvest, she organized joyful parties, involving the residents of the small village as if they were one large extended family. Donna Letizia was kind and generous to everyone, but showed particular concern for the most vulnerable. Donna Letizia's kindness and goodness quickly became known throughout the region, and she was loved and respected by all. She maintained a simple and refined style, and even the magnificent residence, built of lava stone on a small hill overlooking the property, reflected her character. The furnishings were elegant, and works of art adorned the welcoming spaces, ready to welcome guests to the numerous dinners she loved to host throughout the year. These dinners were also an opportunity to savor delicacies prepared with the olive oil from her estate, unanimously considered one of the finest in the area.
